Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 April 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how DawgToolz ("we", "our", "the Service") handles information when you use our website. We collect as little data as possible. Almost all file processing happens locally in your browser. The one exception is described in section 2.

2. Files and documents

For almost all tools, we do not receive, store, or have access to the files you process. File processing happens entirely within your browser. Files are loaded into your device's local memory, processed by JavaScript running on your device, and discarded when you close or navigate away from the tool.

There are two exceptions:

  • HEIC to PNG - HEIC/HEIF files are sent to our own server-side API for conversion (browser-side decoding of this format is not reliably supported). Files are processed in memory and immediately discarded. They are not stored, logged, or accessible after the conversion completes.
  • Cycling Route GPX and Running Route GPX - GPS coordinate data is sent to third-party routing and elevation APIs to calculate a route. The data sent consists solely of geographic coordinates and does not include any personal files or identifiers.

For all other tools, no file content leaves your device.

3. Analytics

We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to understand aggregate usage of the Service. These services may collect anonymised data such as page views, general geographic region, device type, and performance metrics. This data is used solely to improve the Service and is not sold to third parties.

No personally identifiable information is collected through these analytics services. For more information, see Vercel's privacy documentation.

4. Cookies and tracking

DawgToolz does not use cookies for tracking, advertising, or personalisation. We do not use advertising networks or behavioural tracking technologies. We store your recently used tools in your browser's localStorage solely to display them on the homepage for your convenience. This data never leaves your device and can be cleared by clearing your browser storage at any time.

Vercel, our hosting provider, may use technical mechanisms as part of its infrastructure. These are outside our direct control and subject to Vercel's privacy policy.

5. Third-party services

The following third-party services may process limited data:

  • Vercel - Hosting provider. Processes standard server access logs (IP addresses, request metadata) as part of serving the website.
  • OpenTopoData - Elevation API used by the route tools. Only GPS coordinates are sent; no personal data is transmitted.
  • OpenStreetMap / Valhalla - Routing and map tile services used by the Cycling Route and Running Route tools. Subject to their respective privacy policies.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services.

6. Data we do not collect

We do not collect, store, or process:

  • Names, email addresses, or contact information
  • Account credentials (there are no user accounts)
  • Files, documents, images, or their contents
  • Payment information (the Service is free)
  • Precise location data

7. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used the Service in a way that requires attention, please contact us.

8. Data retention

As we do not collect personal data, there is no personal data for us to retain or delete. Server logs held by Vercel are subject to their own retention policies.

9. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding personal data (including access, correction, or deletion). As we collect minimal data, most such rights are satisfied by simply not using the Service. For any requests, contact us via the About page.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
